3 ways—eucalyptus

Sometimes I all I need to do is imagine I deep inhale of eucalyptus and suddenly, pathways feel more open. When I tune into the properties of eucalyptus, I’m desiring spaciousness in my chest, a sense of renewal, clarity of mind and body. Eucalyptus is one of my most used essential oils—whether daily at home, or it made the cut for carry-on only travel.

Here are the 3 ways I indulge in and appreciate the benefits of this oil:

  1. SHOWER: 2-3 drops on the floor of a shower creates a divine shower steam that feels instantly refreshing, grounding and expansive. My favourite when I’m traveling, because it allows me to bring luxury wherever I land. (hot tip: place the drops of oil on the opposite end of where the shower head is so that you don’t instantly wash away the droplets, and can receive the benefits for your entire shower.

  2. LAUNDRY: 4-5 drops of eucalyptus + 4-5 more drops of a floral or a citrus (I love lavender or lemon). Add to a clean unscented liquid detergent directly or drop into borax and dissolve the borax & essential oil mixture in water before adding to the wash. Provides an absolutely divine smell and contains antibacterial properties for cleansing.

  3. RESPIRATORY: 1-2 drops of eucalyptus in a steaming hot bowl of water for chest congestion relief. Add droplets to water and place towel over the bowl and your head to inhale the steam. Ideally, I prefer to use a stainless steel or glass mixing bowl or pot. For extra potent clearing, add 1 drop of thyme essential oil (caution: one single drop as thyme feels very potent and you may notice immediate coughing and clearing).
