6 ways—lemon

The crispness and joy of lemon is so simple, and so real. I’m just going to get right into it.

Here are 6 ways lemon essential oil is a part of my day-to-day:

  1. HOUSEHOLD CLEANING: whether added to dish soap, hand soap on the kitchen countertop or in the bathroom, or a vinegar & water mixture for countertops and floors, this mighty little essential oil adds a burst of freshness. I’m obsessed.

  2. MENTAL CLARITY: pop open that little amber bottle and just go for a few deep inhales and exhales. Perfect when you need a little boost of focus throughout the day. Clears the mental clutter.

  3. MOTHER NATURE’S GOO-GONE: while lemon essential oil is known for its internal clearing out properties, this also works on surfaces. A few drops will wipe any sticky surface or make removing labels a breeze.

  4. LAUNDRY: mentioned this one in my 3 ways—eucalyptus post, but love me a refreshing citrus scent hanging on the line in my cotton sheets.

  5. DIFFUSE: you’ll never regret a few drops of a sweet citrus of any kind in a diffuser. My favourite is blended with a fir or other grounding tree blend.

  6. BAKING: last but not least, this powerful little bottle packs such an epic burst of flavour when baking. I love it in place of lemon juice in a cake recipe because you can make the lemony flavour so much stronger without changing the consistency of the batter. A go-to recipe I adore, is this Lemon Blueberry Bundt Cake from Live Well Bake Often.**

** I swap the following ingredients: granulated sugar for organic cane sugar; canola oil for avocado oil; juice from half a lemon instead of 1/3 cup + plus I add 10-12 drops of dōTERRA lemon essential oil; instead of 2 tbsp of lemon rind, I double it. I also skip the glaze.
