(…continued) We walk silently—at a fairly brisk pace, yet nothing feels rushed. I love how much she’s taking in, still, has always had a pep in her step.

(…continued) I could see the wheels upstairs totally spinning—contemplating the ‘best’ way to answer, to appear composed and as though she had it all together. When really, all she wanted was to say how things really felt in her physical reality. And maybe have a good cry.

(…continued) I noticed her breath, feeling trapped high in her chest, a little wobbly. Restless, anxious, yet heart on her sleeve. I could feel my deep inhale and exhale, belly soft. Grounded. At ease. Heart wide open.
